The European settlers in the New World borrowed many words from the Indians. These old Indian words are 1 part of English in America. There is one word and an expression that 2 from it and 3 to other countries. The word is “canoe”, and the expression is “He paddles (以桨划动) his own canoe.” There is something about a canoe that 4 speed and skill in handling it. Many times under the 5 of night, Indian soldiers moved 6 and quickly across the waters to attack the early settlers’ villages. These early settlers soon learned the 7 of making canoes and of 8 them too.
