To win the students’ hearts

When Mrs. Zhu told us about this speech competition on teachers, I couldn’t help recalling my memory to 9 years ago, when I was a junior student. I’m not good at English first, because tons of homework and dull classes made me think English is just a subject playing with alphas. At that time, I believe even math is far more interesting than English. But my attitude soon changed, due to the arrival of our new English teacher, Mai Ling, she was 24years old and just graduated from XinJiang University. I am really poor in memory, I nearly forgot half of my teachers, but Mai Ling, her face and appearance seem have deeply rooted in my mind. She is a pretty and smart girl. But I think it was her charming personality and interesting teaching way that impressed me more.  Instead of scolding on and on for our mistakes, she was always kind, understanding and respectful of us. Instead of being quiet like a lamb in class, we are truly allowed to express our own opinions. This made everybody feel happy, comfortable and confident, we were not frightened of her so that we dare to ask questions. During her teach, every night I would prepare my questions. every time when I come across something unknown, I would leave a question mark and waited for her answer. She encouraged that and very good at explaining my problems. Soon My grades stand out among the peer, then I really adulged myself into English. Right after that, English moives, magazines and songs became the essential part of my life, so no wander I majored in English and started my career as an English teacher. Naturally, a brand new but ambitious teacher is standing right here dreaming of being an excellent one.

    The experience of Mailing defined what is a good teacher. Among all the qualities required. I’ve learned that first it’s very important having an interesting teaching way as well as having a solid subject knowledge for a new teacher. She was not a grammar professional, at least at that moment. But she tried to make us focused and learn in the class. I remember once we were out of mind when she came into the classroom, she wasn’t hurried to finish her task, but she told us a story, pandiar’s box. How does disaster fall onto the earth. We were totally attracted by her discripton, and undoubtly that class went smoothly as her planned. Most graduates, including me, pay more attention to professional knowledge at the sacrifice of teaching method. Students think school is boring, however, good teaching method can make all the difference and make up for insufficiency in the professional knowledge. Under such circumstance, students, like me, will feel comfortable and confident. But just being kind and respect wouldn’t work if we don’t work out rules. And sometimes we need to stick to our rules and be consistent of it, that’s perhaps is the most endurable part of teaching.          When out of the class, Reaching a balanced relationship is like a bridge through which we can win their hearts. But it seems that they are quite intrested in famous stars, but we cared more about our money on the stock market. Obviously, our intrests differs a lot. But we, adult, cannot only think by our perspective. we should try to understand the way they think and be interested in what they are talking about. Don’t think they are childish, hi, we used to be just like them, aren’t we！

    At last, I wish every teacher could have a young heart no matter how old we are. Surely, our appearance can be faded away, but the young heart will still be there, winning the more hearts.
